Our refresh release, Mercury Neo, is now available with updated core packages for the offline installation option and the live environment and a few bug fixes and improvements for the online installation option.
After Mercury was released on February 10th, we received a lot of valuable feedback from new and experienced users, for which we are incredibly thankful. Without that feedback we can’t move forward, so keep sending us those, no matter how trivial it might seem. We will always respond to your feedback, whether we are capable or not of addressing the issue or adding a new feature in our future releases.
There were some minor issues and upstream changes reported that were fixed through our Hotfix feature that Mercury received, but the fixes and features we are presenting with this refresh release needed a new ISO.
Before I go on into the release notes of our Mercury Neo release I’d like to highlight the following:
The changes described over here are affecting new installs, our Calamares installer, and the Live environment on the ISO only. Running systems don’t have to “upgrade” to Mercury Neo, if you update regularly your system is fine.
The Mercury Neo release
Mercury Neo ships with:
- Calamares 25.02.2.1-2
- Firefox 136.0.2-1
- Linux 6.13.7.arch1-1
- Mesa 1:25.0.1-2
- Xorg-server 21.1.16-1 (xorg)
- Nvidia 570.124.04-4
Bug fixes and improvements:
- We removed installing xwaylandvideobridge from the installation script since it is removed upstream.
- A bug in our install script for ranking the Arch mirrors before installation is fixed, that resulted in failed installations in some regions in the world.
- We removed obsolete Nvidia options from the Nvidia boot menu.
- When choosing Systemd in the auto-install option, the installation process will now create a 2GB EFI partition instead of a 1GB partition. This will give the user more space and freedom to install multiple kernels and other desirable options.

But does this include support for those MIPI webcams (like Dell Latitudes)?
If this isn’t resolved upstream, then probably not. We don’t have such hardware in our development team.
no linux system officially supports it. you need to get your compat installation right over flatpak and pacman/paru. the ld and linux linkers are demolished, the system install gnome flathub compat and compat is gripped by the system. install winehq, get compat, compat32bit and compat64 linking right and it will work better

it’s Ucode related. mipi and mjpeg support runs over ucode. install ucode and gst and it should work!
So in the online installation i was having trouble with some ide and some of them wouldn’t install
so that have been fixed too ?
Without technical info, I can’t answer that.It could be the Arch mirror ranking failure, but since you are talking about “some installs” it also could be a hardware issue.
i have a intel arc graphics card. when i install a linux system, the iHD xorg drivers take the libva driver dependencies and vainfo shows me atomic computation is not supported, but the intel arc dg2 i have does support atomic computation 32bits and 16bits. does the update fix the atomic computation problem or should i better stay with fedora kde?

Curious when 6.14 will be available as an update on Endeavour.
Had a lot of issues on 6.13/mesa 25 with Gnome 48(on Ryzen 8845HS system), so much I had to downgrade mesa to 24.3.4 for artefacting and (most) crashes to stop. Still freezes up every now and then.
Saw some signs that 6.14 fixes a bunch of things again for AMD systems so hoping that I can keep stuff up to date again without having to reboot every few hours.
Was there a lot of requests for the increase in the ESP partition size? I mean storage is cheap nowadays, I have EOS on a 1tb SSD and the whole install only takes up 11gb so a 2gb ESP is trivial, just wondering if a lot of folks were requesting a larger size?
Love EOS and how it runs and looks, you guys do a fantastic job!
The change was made after quite some reports from users with multiple kernels installed and Nvidia drivers installed.
